According to 20 Hours special correspondent Stéphanie Perez in eastern Ukraine, the Ukrainian authorities have not yet commented on the fatal plane crash, which could have killed Yevgueni Prigojine, on Wednesday 23 august.
"No comment for the moment from the Ukrainian authorities, it is still too early here. We are still very cautious about all the information that may come from Moscow", says special envoy Stéphanie Perez in the east of the Ukraine, Wednesday August 23. "We are waiting to find out if Yevgeny Prigojine was indeed one of the passengers on the plane that crashed, but inevitably, as you can imagine, the Ukrainians are following the situation very closely because Prigojine and the Wagner militia are associated with the martyr of the city of Bakhmout, to the agony of this city which was completely decimated. Thousands of Ukrainian soldiers died during the very violent fighting with the Wagner militia", continues Stéphanie Perez
The eve of the country's independence day
"And here, we note quite symbolically that the crash of this plane occurs on the eve of an important date for Ukraine, the eve of the date of its independence. A day during which the Ukrainians are counting, tomorrow, claim their territorial integrity once again", she concludes.
