How long should I plan for a trip to Australia?

Given the vastness of the country and the significant distances between the cities, it is not recommended to go to Australia if you do not have at least 2 full weeks to travel. Here is an overview of what you can do depending on the time you have.

                               3 week trip

Three weeks of travel is a good time if you want to see a little bit of the country. For example, you can visit the entire East Coast or the entire West Coast of Australia. You can also decide to do plane hops between three different locations. For example one week to discover Sydney and its region, 1 week for Cairns and its surroundings and 5 days to discover Uluru and the red center of the country. Be aware that it takes about 2 days to visit the big cities (attractions and city tour) and about 5 days to discover a region. If you want to do a road trip in this time frame, prefer one of the coasts (East preferably).

If you are planning a 3-week trip, it is best to opt for a tourist visa.

            3 month trip

If you have the opportunity to stay 3 months in Australia, you will be able to discover a good part of the country. Indeed, if you explore the country by road, in 3 months you can visit half of Australia. For example, you can do the east coast and the center of the country or the west coast, cut through the center to reach the south of the country. If you plan to take the plane to reach the big cities, you will be able to see the whole of Australian territory. However, this will definitely be a big budget.
If the duration of your stay does not exceed 3 months, the tourist visa is a good option. Beyond that, you can still apply for a tourist visa but you will have to leave and re-enter the country before reaching 3 months.

                        1 year trip (or more)

If you want to travel to Australia for 12 months or more, you will surely have to work to finance your trip. Thus the WHV / PVT visa seems to be the best option (you still have to be between 18 and 35 years old). For a one-year trip, you will have the opportunity to tour Australia while working for a few weeks or months. You can go around along the coast or make a coast, cut inland to reach the south of the country and then join the other coast. The possibilities are many, so it's up to you to choose according to your preferences.
